Call for Papers: Authors are invited to submit technical papers describing original work and/or advanced practices on RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz (THz) theory and techniques. Returning for IMS2018 is the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition for eligible students and Young Professionals. Eligible students are also encouraged to submit papers for the Student Paper Competition. Eligible authors from industry are encouraged to submit papers for the Industry Paper Competition. Additionally, any author who submits a paper on advanced practices may be entered into the Advanced Practice Paper Competition. A double-blind review process will be used to ensure anonymity for both authors and reviewers. Papers will be evaluated on the basis of originality, content, clarity, and relevance to IMS. Authors of accepted papers will also have the opportunity to submit expanded versions of their papers to the IMS Special Issue of the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques.

Focus and Special Sessions:  Focus Session proposals should highlight emerging new technical topics that are gaining importance and are of high interest to the microwave community. Focus Sessions encompass a wide range of topics, and may either involve a specific emerging technology or cover several technologies that are relevant to a common application. Special Session proposals should recognize events of historical significance to the microwave community, or highlight the technical achievements in a specific technical area, application space, or geographical region of the world. IMS2018 shall accept Special Session proposals only for technical topics. Please note that the technical topic may be named after a famous individual, e.g., Doherty. Special Session proposals commemorating deceased individuals shall be directed to the Memorials Committee of the MTT-S Administrative Committee (Adcom). These proposals will not be accepted or reviewed by the IMS2018 Technical Program Committee. Also, IMS2018 will NOT accept proposals commemorating individuals who are alive.

Panel and Rump Sessions: Proposals for Panel and Rump Sessions on topics in RF/microwave areas which are particularly timely or controversial are encouraged. These include topics related to the IMS2018 theme, “Microwaves, Medicine, and Mobility”, which highlights the contributions of RF, microwaves, and millimeter-waves to the fields of medicine and telecommunications. Panel Sessions are one hour and twenty minutes long, and typically held during lunchtime on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Rump Sessions are about an hour and half, and are held on Tuesday evenings of the Microwave Week.

Workshops and Short Courses: The Workshops and Short Courses, offered at IMS2018, provide a unique forum for the exchange of ideas and technical information, and are distinct from regular conference oral presentations. Workshop proposals should focus on topics of high topical interest to the MTT-S community, and should encompass a coherent theme that is presented by selected experts in the field. The short courses are meant to be primarily tutorial and instructional. The IMS2018 Workshops and Short Courses Committee welcomes, from domain experts, proposals that meet the following criteria and are endorsed by the MTT-S Technical Committees (TCs), RFIC, ARFTG, and/or IMBioC.
