Methods of distributed synchronization in future wireless networks
This talk will start by explaining the difference between the role of phased arrays and massive MIMO in future wireless system. The need for synchronization between different transceivers in a phased array, massive MIMO, and distributed cooperative networks will be explained from both the system and circuit perspectives. The different methods, systems, and circuits used today to synchronize distributed cooperative systems will be reviewed and the need for more advanced synchronization methods will be demonstrated. These advanced synchronization systems will include different methods of frequency, phase and time transfer, and a comparison of their accuracies. The talk will be concluded by demonstrating the need for the different technologies that are introduced in this workshop for future wireless systems.
