Reconfigurable and Multi-Band Filters in 3-D and Substrate-Integrated-Cavity Technologies

Current and next-generation wireless communication systems (e.g. 5G mobile networks, Internet of Satellites, and so on) are (and will be) requesting multi-band and multi-functions transceivers to meet their multiple and demanding needs. Filters with band-pass responses, that should be implemented -in several technologies- with reconfigurable and multi-band features, are key components in all these subsystems. In this talk, recent advances on several topologies and design techniques of these modern filtering components, realized in different technologies (such as substrate integrated waveguides based on coaxial resonators, and 3D metal cavities) will be addressed, including both electronic (varactors and MEMS) and mechanical (screws) tuning elements.
