Dielectric Tuning Screws for Microwave Filters Applications

In this paper, we describe an initial investigation on the use of dielectric rods to tune microwave filters in rectangular waveguide. The achievable tuning range is first estimated with the help of a full-wave simulator, and is then verified experimentally. The paper is concluded with a comparative evaluation of metallic and dielectric tuning screws behavior.
