Singly Terminated Network and Contiguous Multiplexer Design
This paper proposes a new method to evaluate the behavior of a singly terminated (ST) network. It is proven that a network exhibits ST characteristics when combined with its complementary admittance. For the first time, this contribution provides the theory to quantitatively explain some of the well-known engineering practices, such as using ST prototypes as the initial solution to design a contiguous multiplexer. It also sets up a solid foundation to explore the bandwidth limits and efficient design strategies.
