High Modes Suppressions with Transmission Zeros Design for a Novel Quarter-Mode SIW Filter

This paper presents a novel quarter-mode packaged bandpass filter with mode suppressions of up to 110 GHz in substrate-integrated waveguide technology. A few transmission zeros were designed. The locations of the TZs can then be accurately realized by using design methodology. The multi-layer structure using photosensitive polymer Benzocyclobutene was illustrated. The packaged filter exhibits close agreements between the simulation and measurement results and has the advantages of compact configuration and easy integration with other devices. The proposed concept is attractive for designing miniaturized and high-performance-packaged filters for three-dimensional millimeter wave transceiver systems.
