Relationship Between Band-Edge Steepness and Power-Handling Capability in Filters

A general theorem about the relationship between the material propriety, S-parameter steepness and power-handing capability of a multiple-port network is derived from Maxwell equations. It shows that the product of the latter two parameters in a filter is upper bounded by the material propriety. The theorem is verified with experiment on two filters.
