Phased Array Development for High Altitude Platforms and Satcom at Facebook Connectivity Labs

The paper outlines the phased array antenna designs and performance data utilizing various K and Ka-band Silicon based beamformer modules. The arrays have been designed at Facebook Connectivity Labs for High Altitude Platforms (HAPs), wireless backhaul and Satcom applications. Focus will be on electrical design and control aspects of the arrays for the airborne test campaign. Performance data for arrays designed for Satcom with scalable apertures will be also be discussed. These arrays are starting to reach performance and affordability targets favorable in terms of cost per unit aperture for Satcom due to high levels of integration.
