The fundamental principles and operations of high-efficiency switched-mode power amplifiers including Class E, F and their derivatives will be presented with some design examples implemented in both hybrid and IC formats. Further, deployment of these PAs in a Doherty architecture with a novel direct-impedance-transformation output-combining network will be described.
