Electromagnetic tomography for human brain imaging: application for detection of stroke, traumatic brain injuries and brain tumor
Electromagnetic Tomography (EMT) also known as microwave tomography is a novel imaging modality recently emerging into clinical applications, including breast cancer detection, brain imaging and others. EMT, when matured, might present an effective supplement to current brain imaging technologies for functional neuroimaging, diagnostic of stroke, traumatic brain injuries, brain tumor detection and other applications. We present our recent brain tomographic imaging approach based on the developed EMT brain imaging scanner together with the procedure for such an imaging. We also present different schemes of EMT images reconstruction specifically developed for human brain EMT imaging. Finally, we present imaging results obtained in clinical studies and discuss our vision and roadmap in technology acceptance for clinical practice.
